In addition, she was on the advisory board for Colby Cares About Kids (CCAK), a one-on-one mentoring program for youth from the Waterville area, in which she also served as a mentor for a local student. She volunteered at Operation HOPE (Heroin Opiate Prevention Effort) while at Colby and continues to do so today. She has also interned at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS), where she participated in governmental and task force meetings and drafted and edited pandemic related documents. During her senior year at Colby, Katie served as a research assistant for the Chair of the Sociology Department.
