Shaun M. Garry

Shaun Garry's law practice focuses on defending state and federal criminal matters, as well as civil litigation. He is admitted to practice in Maine and Massachusetts, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Maine.

The faculty of the University of Maine School of Law awarded a law degree cum laude to Shaun in 2009. Shaun was the research editor for the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal and a member of the Law School's National Trial Team. He received convocation awards for outstanding achievements in the fields of Criminal Procedure and Trial Advocacy. During law school, Shaun worked at the Office of the Federal Defender in Portland, where he participated in the defense of complex federal cases. At the Federal Defender's Office, he was co-author of a chapter on conspiracy for the 2010 Edition of DEFENDING A FEDERAL CRIMINAL CASE. Shaun also served as a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, where his duties included defending a federal criminal case and litigating a motion in the Maine Supreme Court. After his law school graduation, Shaun worked at a Portland criminal defense firm, where he participated in complex federal criminal litigation, as well as misdemeanor and felony cases in state courts.

Shaun received undergraduate degrees in psychology and political science from Boston College in 2003. Prior to law school, he worked for three years as a counselor to developmentally delayed children at a psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire. Shaun was raised in Florida and traveled often because his parents both worked for the airlines. Shaun lives in Portland and enjoys hiking, fishing and nature photography.
