Seth A. Goodall practices law in the areas of civil and criminal defense, and serves in the State Senate in the Maine Legislature. In 2008, Seth was elected to the Maine State Senate in the 124th Legislature. He is the youngest member of the Senate. Seth is a member of the Joint Select Committee on Natural Resources, which he co-chairs, as well as the Joint Select Committee on Legal and Veterans Affairs. Prior to joining the law firm, Seth was Legal Counsel to Maine State Senate President. In addition, he was a senior staff member on Governor John Baldacci's re-election campaign and co-chaired the Governor's inauguration.
Seth is a 2005 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law, where he served on the Student Bar Association. He was a Bernstein Fellow in the Maine District Court, and a member of the Edward Thaxter Gignoux Inn of Court, an organization state and federal judges, law professors, lawyers, and law students who meet regularly to address legal trends in Maine's state and federal courts with the aim of facilitating positive growth of the civil and criminal justice systems. Seth was a co-author of Property Tax: A Primer and a Modest Proposal for Maine in the Maine Law Review. He received the Distinguished Service Award at commencement.
Seth earned Masters of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees at the University of Connecticut, where he focused his education and research on the environment and natural resources. He was the lead author on a peer-reviewed published article concerning ball response and player traction of baseball and softball infields.
Seth has always been involved in community affairs. In addition to his work in the State Senate, he is a continuing member of the Gignoux Inn of Court and serves on the Maine Economic Growth Council. He formerly served as Chair of the Richmond Town Selectboard and the University of Maine School of Law Alumni Association Board.
Seth lives in his hometown of Richmond with his wife, LeAnn.
